The London marathon is an Event Documentary; this is because the marathon is a major event that needs to be documented so that in future other people could view it. There are usually voice overs in events to maintain the audience’s interest.

Big Brother is a fly on the wall documentary. Big Brother is about 14 contestants or ‘house mates’ that have been put into a house and they undergo different situations for the audiences entertainment. The documentary goes into great detail and also interviews the housemates which make it a fly on the wall.

Actuality filming resembles documentaries in many ways such as; its uses real footage, places, events, real stories etc. but however unlike documentaries actuality filming does not have proper structure or narration.

Lifestyle programmes are usually referred to as hybrid documentaries as it holds other elements of different genres such as how-to or reality TV. It’s aspirational as it focuses on achieving practical aims so that the audience also aspire.
